We haven't written in here in awhile!

How did everybodies nano go this year? I tried to do an altered version -two sonnets a day- sadly, I have been way to busy with school, and I failed horribly. I hope you guys had better luck!

Safe journeys and best wishes to those OPFs who are departing for the duration of Spring Break, be they travelling across the state, across the country, or over the sea.

Everyone have a lovely time, and come home safely!

It is a bit late in the game to be posting this, but if people feel like showing up, there will be another write-in this evening. 7:30, Brady, you know the drill. I'll be there after about 6:00, again.

Should you want to make these officially every week, every other week, or if you want me to quit posting about them already, drop a comment. Thanks!

Okay. Conditions seem favorable to schedule a writing-in tomorrow night.

What: Write-In
When: Thursday, February 17, 7:30 pm until whenever we leave
Where: Brady Commons

That being said, I will probably be in Brady after about 6:00. Anyone wanting to show up earlier is welcome, but we won't be official (if anything with this group can be said to be so) until 7:30.

There has been some quiet noise made about having another meeting this Thursday, after last week's sort of collapsed as everyone's free time evaporated. Is anyone still interested in that?

Also, the 10th Kingdom watching party has been brought back up. Thoughts?

Okay, I know some people's plans have changed...can we get a show of hands to who would actually be planning to attend an OPF meeting tonight? ('cause if the answer is no one, I'm not going either..)
Those who say they are planning to attend (if anyone) what time are you apt to actually show up?

OK.
Having heard no negative comments I am pleased to announce that the OPFs will be meeting this Thursday (2/10/05) at 7:30 in Brady Commons.

Ok,
I should have done this sooner and I apologize for not doing it sooner, but looking at what people posted it seems that the only day that everyone who replied can make is Thursday evening.
I therefore propose that we meet next Thursday at 7:30 (since this is the time around which people seem to start being truly available). I propose that we meet in Brady Commons but am open to suggestions for other locations that we can agree on.

I will post a reminder with firm(ish) plans next week, but this is, at the moment, just a suggestion and anyone who doesn’t like it or who has had a schedule change or whatever should please feel free to say something.

Ok. Semester is two days underway. Hopefully most of us have a rough idea of our semester schedules. We were going to have weekly Brady get-togethers, is this still the case, and what day(s) works for people?
Please post a reply with: 1) if you want to do weekly get-togethers 2) When you most want to have the get-togethers and 3) when you can make it, but is not your first choice.

Ok. Hearing no objections.

What: Lord of the Rings. All three of them. The extended version.
When: Friday starting at 6 pm. Lasting until they are over or we fall asleep.
Where: My apartment.
Why: For fun, and to gain much nerd-honor.

due to impressively underwhelming response, which I'm attributing primarily to schedule conflicts and just general "eh" feelings on the overload we've all been under, I'm _not_ planning to do a 10th Kingdom showing this Saturday. If people want to get together and hang out, watch movies, whatever, nifty, and I'd like to come along if I'm free.

I'll try to reschedule that for later in the spring. Probably on a Sunday, since it is unlikely I will have any Saturdays free in the forseeable future.

Ok.
So we did agree on watching the Lord of the Rings movies at my apartment, but not a time, so I’m going to suggest that the time be Friday. We can start at 6 (this give those of you who have to work a chance to be here when we start, but I am open to a time shift based on schedule). I know otterfae wanted to watch 10th Kingdom this weekend, this allows a duel showing Friday and Saturday (or if people would prefer I am open to just doing 10th Kingdom of Friday).
Those who so kindly offered to cook should ask if I have the correct vessels/tools or assume I don’t.
If you need directions send me an e-mail (aaw9ae @ mizzou . edu) with where you are coming from.

Okay, so we're getting together sometime this week to do the ultimate geek game of watching all of LOTR back to back. I will do my darndest to clear my schedule for this, but work may collide.

Can I put in a request for next weekend? I've talked to some peoples about doing a 10th Kingdom showing. That will take a full day. I was kind of thinking of a weekend day, get together reasonably early, watch for a while, break for walkies for those who wish, and food, then watch the rest. For those who not only haven't seen it, they don't know what it is, 10th Kingdom is a mini-series, released a few years ago. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 hours (was aired over three evenings). It's a faerie tale theme, sort of. Modern world collides with a faerie tale world, essentially, but it's a lot harder to sum up than that.
Some great acting and scripting, and a lot of fun, as well as surprisingly moving.

People still up for this? I have the VHS, so where we hold it depends on who wants to come, mostly. I offer my place, since I'm the one pushing for it, but I do have cats, so another option might be good should the allergic among us wish to play along.

(I'm pushing this along because after next weekend, my Saturdays are almost all taken for the next 5-6 months. and quite a few of the Sundays, as well.)

Ok.
Next week, all of us will be in town (stop me if I am wrong). We should (I boldly proclaim) have a movie night/day. I don’t care which day, but we should decide soon.
I suggest that, now that they are all available, we do the fun, the nerdy, the time consuming, and watch all three extended versions of the Lord of the Rings films.
I offer the use of my apartment (plenty of room and it is cleaner that it ever has been) as long as someone doesn’t mind bringing a DVD player.
What say you all?

Here's the plan, for them that are curious:
MEETING OF THE OPF
TIME: 6pm
PLACE: Cherry Street Artisan.
UNTIL: 11pm or our questionabe behaviors get us expelled.
ORDER OF BUSINESS: Chit-chat and debauchery, followed by solid writing/journalling, followed by (if folks are up for it) a bit of targetted writing from a promt.

Gods help us, Ivo's acting decisive... The world may be coming to an end.

The roads are slightly better than I expected them to be this morning, but I'm looking outside and seeing light snow. It's supposed to get to "partly cloudy" today, but the temp isn't supposed to top 25*F.

Do we still want to meet tonight, or should we call it based on the weather?

Greetings, PornFrogs.

It has come to my attention that we are in dire need of a gathering. Maybe even one involving *gasp* writing! (assuming any of us have time for such right now..*eyes the growing pile of garb to complete*)

So, are people desirous of a get-together this week? Our final missing member should return next week, and of course another gathering must be planned for that.
The usual drill: suggest days, times, places, and we'll somehow manage to pick something that works for as many people as possible.

I am unavailable Friday night, for once, as I have a commitment in StLouis. Other than that, my week is open, and part of my weekend can be made so.

Also, is there interest in storming Shattered before the Return of the Students? I've heard murmurs about a Shattered night this Saturday. Thoughts?

okay, kids..

ivo_shandor bravely stepped forward and nominated Tuesday night for the impending gathering. I'm willing to run with that, but no one has so much as suggested a location. So time to get that settled. Currently listed requirement is electricity. requests include wi-fi, but I'm not coming up with a good way to manage that, personally.

So, here are the options as I see them. If someone else wishes to chime in, feel free:
-someone can volunteer their apartment/home. This would entail, given the group, no cats due to allergies, and tolerant neighbors due to noise.
-We can fall back on the stand-by, Steak'n'Shake.
-we can check the schedules at assorted coffee houses to see if they'll be too full and/or require a cover
-Someone else can suggest something brilliant that I haven't thought of and we can all be properly pleased and worshipful.

Subject:actual writing-type get together?
Security:Public

So, I had this thought. I know that next week is right before the big-H Holiday, and a notable section of our group will be gone *mope* to their respective familial obligations. However, would those others remaining be interested in perhaps having a writing gathering some evening next week? Not anything particularly structured, just people bringing whatever they're working on, or ideas to kick around with other weirdos, and doing the chat and write and whine game.

As far as I know, I'm open for any evening. Anyone else?
